A very fine Japanese wood and lacquer screen depicting musicians (19th century, Japan)

Description A very fine Japanese two panel screen, the main body decorated with scenes of Tennin musicians and dancers under large ikebana (floral displays) they wear fine and detailed clothing made of red, black, green and gold lacquer decorated with Mon and dragons, the folds of the clothes are so well carved they look as though they are moving as the figures dance. Birds, dragonflys and butterflies fly around the performers. There are two smaller panels to the bottom of the screen decorated with elegant images of birds flying amongst foliage.
